I have loved this car for my family of 4! I bought the Atlas when I had one child who was just under 2 years old. After watching Kelly’s reviews of the car, my general interest in VW and the fact that I thought we’d have 3 kids, I thought this would be the best vehicle long term for our family. We added a second child to the family a little more than a year after getting it so I’ve had a rear facing and infant car seat and then a rear facing and forward facing convertible, 2 forward facing convertibles and now a booster and forward facing. It has handled all that perfectly with plenty of trunk space for strollers, foldable chairs, luggage, etc. I’m just shy of having the vehicle for 6 years (the longest I’ve ever kept a vehicle!) and starting to think about what vehicle will be next - I’m unsure if I’ll like anything as much as I’ve liked this car.

The VW Atlas is hands down my favorite car. As a mom is it the perfect size and I feel so safe driving it! I truly have no complaints.

I love this car. My rating for interior design wasn’t a 5 due to 1) not having ceiling vents and 2) all of the tech being within the screen. The volume controls are on the steering wheel, which is great, but I wish atleast the A/C had actual buttons or knobs. For example, in the summer, when the car gets really hot, you can’t immediately use the screen so you have to let it cool off to be able to adjust the air or change the radio. It doesn’t take extremely long, I would just prefer a little more efficiency for the common buttons. Third row is roomy and I love the side vents, cup holder options, and charging ports. My kids love the side vents too. As an adult, the seat itself could be a little more comfortable in my opinion.

I have loved my Atlas. My two kids have plenty of space in the second row and I have plenty of storage in the back for work equipment. When we want to drive family it is quick to get to the third row with the car seat tilt. It's a comfortable drive and has good power when trying to pick it up quick on the highway. We do a lot of driving through a mountain pass and the Atlas does well maintaining power as we gain elevation.

I love the car seat versatility of my 2024 Atlas. It was also a huge bonus that the third row only has two seats, so that when in use, it feels functional. Missing ceiling vents is a bummer with rear facing car seats. I have also had tech issues with car play as well as brake issues. It sounds like the vehicle needs new brakes, but the dealership just states it's an issue with the brake pads being "dirty" but does not improve after cleaning. This is worse when the vehicle is colder. Overall, I love the functionality of the car, but these are two drawbacks I have experienced in the last year.

Pros- GREAT space in 2nd & 3rd row, decent trunk space with 3rd row up, good car seat capabilities, comfortable ride in passenger seat/back seats, aesthetically pleasing interior & exterior, kids LOVE changing color of interior lights, car seat tilt Cons- tech is very inconsistent/glitchy, lack of buttons for climate control, LOUD brakes (dealer says normal), gas mileage is not great, needs ceiling vents in 2nd row Overall, I am really happy with my car in this stage of life. Very functional for our family. The glitchy tech & noisy brakes are the biggest downfalls for me.

I thoroughly watched every video of Kelly's before picking this car! I was planning on doing 3 across (3 under 4), but also wanted a car that could be functional if I wanted to put my oldest in the third row (or decide to have a 4th baby). We definitely loved three across, and felt like the second row is not only super wide, but also has so much leg room/space between rear facing car seats and the front seats. It definitely helps when putting purses or bags on the floor behind the driver or passenger seat without having to stuff it down. Also it was super great for our oldest to get in between the seat/car seat to get to the middle spot. The biggest con has been the lack of ceiling vents/pillar vents for the rear facing seats in the second row. This didn't bother us as much last year, but it's definitely been a huge issue with this hot summer (we are in Connecticut, so it's usually pretty mild up here). We also have been trying out our oldest in the third row the past couple weeks because of the lack of air flow. It's definitely more than enough space to have an extra reclined rear-facing seat in the second row and still fit a car seat in the third row. It has just been so hard going from "third-row down trunk space" to "third-row up trunk space." I have a mockingbird double stroller, and it's a tight fit back there. We live by the water, so we frequently go on boardwalk walks with all three kids. A grocery store haul is fine, but a big Costco haul is tough. I have to put half of the third row down to fit everything. Of all the three row cars I test drove, I really liked how smooth the Atlas drove, and how zippy it felt for being a bigger SUV. I also think that the tech is a good sweet spot (before they did the redesign) since it has real buttons but also enough touch screen buttons as well. Also, I definitely prefer this exterior style to the atrocious rear headlight redesign they did.

This car has been so wonderful for our growing family. We weren’t ready to jump to a full size suv or a mini van, so the atlas was the perfect choice for us. This car even at the lower trim levels (SE w/Tech) gives so much but remains simple. I love the display, CarPlay, and little things like the footwell lighting being adjustable. The ability to leave the footwell lighting has been amazing for digging through snack bags on road trips. Speaking of roadtrips, it is so comfortable! Plenty of leg room for all involved. The trunk space with the third row down is HUGE. Costco trips are well accepted in this car. We ultimately picked this car because of the car seat compatibility. We currently have two FF kids and one rear facing. We’ve been able to do 3 across with no issues (other than two preschoolers fighting) but also have done one kid in the third row. Access to the third row has been a breeze with car seat tilt. My only complaint for the atlas are two things: - no ceiling vents - wireless car play tends to drop when I’m near cell towers it seems The ceiling vent issue has been fixed by 3-D printing a diverter that works with the third row vent and swings the air around to our youngest rider. Highly suggest that if the only thing that is holding you back is the lack of ceiling vent issue. I truly love this car. We’ve driven it from Florida to Vermont and she has done us well.

I love everything about the car for 3 young kids. I have very minor complaints. I have the SE with tech. Occasionally the screen on my dash goes blank and I can’t do anything without the screen. It just requires a reset but it’s annoying. My other complaint is that the kids whine about the air flow in the second and third row. Lastly, I can’t see all of the buttons at night because they’re not all backlit.

I love my Atlas! There are two things I consistently mention to people as major misses for moms! Obviously, ceiling vents. C’mon VW it’s 2026!! Second thing is I really wish the trunk had a “close and lock” button. I have 19 month old twins and when we are all out and loaded in stroller my last step is closing the trunk. With my old vehicle (2021 Sorrento) you could push “lock” on the truck so it would close and lock the car. I have to walk around with the double stroller and press the handle holding the key (usually in a bag I already put in stroller) seems silly but I LOVED that feature. So much space for a mid size SUV.

The Atlas is the Swiss Army Knife of mid-sized SUVs! From 1 kid to 4 kids, the Atlas is flexible enough to handle any configuration of passengers and car seats. The second row is incredibly spacious and accommodating for any size car seat. The third row fits adult passengers well, even with car seats in the second row. While the biggest glaring miss is the lack of ceiling vents, the AC is very powerful and the car is always crispy cold. The Atlas makes up for the lack of vents with other features like top tethers in every seat, a bench that shines in three across, car seat tilt, and an impressive trunk even with the third row up. I also appreciate that the center seat is large enough to fit me between two (narrow) car seats. Sometimes I’ll jump in the back so we can fit another adult passenger in the first row. The Atlas can do it all, and do it all well!
