Infant Seats

An infant seat is able to transport the baby in and out of the car and often attaches to a stroller. Multiple bases can be purchased so the child can easily ride in different cars. Although you dont technically need one, most families opt for an infant seat for the convenience. 

A baseless infant seat installs without a separate base, using lower anchors attached directly to the car seat itself. This makes installation quick and convenient for families using multiple vehicles or needing easier third-row access. Baseless infant seats meet the same safety standards as all other car seats and are perfectly safe when installed correctly. We recommend considering the Joie Mint Latch!

For premature or smaller babies, I typically recommend looking for an infant seat with a rethread harness, more adjustable harness positioning, and a lower minimum weight limit. The Chicco KeyFit30 checks all of those boxes and is one I frequently recommend for smaller newborns.

Stroller car seat combinations like the Doona can be convenient for families on the go, but they can also feel heavy and bulky because the wheels stay attached to the seat.

We generally prefer the Evenflo Shyft DualRide because the wheels can detach, giving you the option of a lighter carrier.

The stroller manufacturer will have a list of compatible car seats. You may need to buy an adapter to go on your stroller for the car seat to attach.
