- Surprisingly Large Cargo Area: One of the biggest surprises on the Mustang Mach-E is the cargo space. Despite its sporty, coupe-inspired design, the rear hatch offers plenty of room for strollers, groceries, sports gear, or luggage. The adjustable power liftgate is also a nice family-friendly touch, especially if you're parking in a garage.

The tight steering, quick acceleration, and responsive handling make it one of the sportiest electric SUVs on the market. It truly lives up to the Mustang name while still being comfortable enough for everyday family life.
- Access to Tesla Superchargers: One of the biggest advantages of owning a Ford EV is charging flexibility. With the available Tesla Supercharger adapter, the Mach-E can access Tesla's extensive charging network, making road trips and long-distance travel much more convenient for families.
The Exterior
A Design That Still Turns Heads
Even a few years after its debut, the Mustang Mach-E still looks modern. It's one of those vehicles that doesn't really fit into one category—it's part SUV, part coupe, and part wagon—and I think that's exactly why so many people were drawn to it.
The sloping roofline, black exterior accents, and sporty stance give it a premium look without being overdone. The blue paint on my test vehicle looked especially sharp and really highlighted the Mach-E's design.
One feature I'm always happy to see? Ford's signature keypad entry. It's something I've loved on Ford vehicles for years, and I'm glad they kept it on the Mach-E.
The only exterior feature I'm not sold on is the door handle setup. Instead of a traditional handle, you press a button and then pull the door open. It works, but it feels like an extra step that doesn't really improve the experience.

A Sporty Interior with Great Tech
Inside, the Mach-E continues the sporty theme instead of trying to feel futuristic or minimalist. Carbon fiber-inspired trim, white seating, and contrasting materials make the cabin feel athletic without sacrificing comfort.
The massive vertical touchscreen is impossible to miss. The software is easy to use and responsive, but I do wish it looked a little more integrated into the dashboard. It almost feels like Ford designed the interior first and then added the screen afterward.
Storage up front is well thought out with:
- Wireless phone charging
- Multiple USB-C ports
- Two cup holders
- A covered center console
- Plenty of open storage space for everyday items
The driver's seat is also incredibly comfortable, and the center armrest makes longer drives feel relaxed.
The Mach-E Is Seriously Fun to Drive
This is easily one of my favorite things about the Mustang Mach-E.
I've driven a lot of electric vehicles, and this one still stands out. The steering feels tight, the handling is excellent, and the acceleration is exactly what you'd expect from something wearing a Mustang badge.
Ford didn't just build an electric SUV—they built an EV that's genuinely enjoyable to drive. Whether you're navigating city streets or taking corners on a winding road, the Mach-E feels confident and quick.

What Parents Need to Know About the Back Seat
This is where things get a little more complicated.
The second row is comfortable for passengers, but it's not especially spacious. If you're tall or need to fit larger rear-facing convertible car seats, you'll want to pay close attention before purchasing.
The second row includes:
- Lower anchors in both outboard seats
- Three top tether anchors
- Rigid, easy-to-access buckle stalks
- Rear air vents
- Two USB-C charging ports
- Fold-down armrest with cup holders
The biggest challenge isn't necessarily legroom—it's the angle of the rear seats.
During my testing, I installed a Britax Poplar rear-facing convertible car seat, which is one of the most compact options available. Even with one of the smallest front-to-back seats on the market, achieving the proper recline was difficult because of the way the vehicle seats are angled.
The good news? Once everything was installed correctly, I still had comfortable driver legroom. So the Mach-E can absolutely work for families with rear-facing kids—you'll just need to be selective about which car seat you choose.
If you're primarily using infant seats or forward-facing seats, you'll likely have an easier experience.
I also wouldn't purchase the Mach-E expecting to regularly fit three car seats across the second row. While some combinations may work, it's not something I'd count on.

Cargo Space Is Better Than You'd Expect
One area where the Mach-E really impressed me is cargo space.
Despite the coupe-like roofline, the cargo area is surprisingly large with plenty of room for groceries, sports gear, or a stroller.
I also love that Ford allows you to adjust the maximum height of the power liftgate, which is helpful if you park in a garage or simply don't want the liftgate opening all the way every time.
Another big advantage is charging flexibility. The Mach-E is compatible with Tesla Superchargers (with the appropriate adapter), making road trips much easier than they were just a few years ago.
