2025 Chevrolet Tahoe

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe features a refreshed exterior and interior design, highlighted by new signature lighting and a best-in-class 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen that significantly modernizes the cabin. It also introduces a more powerful diesel engine, previously seen on the Silverado, offering improved performance and efficiency. Additionally, updated trailering technology and ride-and-handling refinements enhance towing confidence and overall driving comfort.
- Expanded Standard Safety Technology: For 2025, Chevy made many crash-prevention features standard, including automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and intersection detection, lane change alert, and side bicycle alert. The updated occupant detection system can even sense micro-movements and escalate alerts if someone is left in the vehicle.
- Strong Car Seat Hardware & Cabin Space: The bench seat offers three sets of lower anchors in the second row and six total top tether anchors across the vehicle. Combined with generous second- and third-row legroom and well-placed ceiling vents, it remains a very functional option for families.
The Exterior
Exterior: Sporty, Rugged, and Less “Soccer Mom”
The trim I toured was the Z71, and it’s giving outdoorsy in the best way.
Notable upgrades and styling cues:
- Exposed skid plate
- Bold, colored tow hooks
- Blacked-out badging
- Rugged running boards
- Tucked rear wiper for a sleek back end
The Cypress Gray with black lettering? Obsessed. It has that slightly rugged, 4Runner/Sequoia vibe that feels less suburban carpool and more adventure-ready — without losing practicality.
If exterior styling matters to you, this refresh absolutely delivers.
First Row
Driver Comfort & Storage
The center console layout has been reconfigured for 2025.
Up front you’ll find:
- Wireless charging pad
- USB + USB-C ports
- Two cup holders up front
- Two additional cup holders behind
- Deep square center console (deeper than the Suburban — surprisingly)
The driving position is commanding. You sit upright, high, and confident.
Second Row
Second Row & Car Seat Breakdown
I was thrilled to finally see a bench seat available for testing.
Here’s what you get:
- Three sets of lower anchors in the second row
- Three top tether anchors in the second row
- Three top tether anchors in the third row
- No lower anchors in the third row
That’s six total tether anchors — strong flexibility for forward-facing installs.
However… still no middle head restraint.
I was disappointed. Especially because the brand-new Traverse added one. I suspect this refresh focused more on tech and styling than structural changes, but from a safety standpoint, I would love to see this addressed in the future.
The bench is wide, supportive, and comfortable. Ceiling vents are positioned directly above rear-facing car seats — which I love. Airflow matters more than people realize.
Legroom is generous, and the seat can slide forward or back depending on whether you’re prioritizing second-row or third-row space.
Third Row
Third Row: Comfortable, With One Caveat
The third row in the Tahoe remains spacious for a full-size SUV.
You’ll find:
- Good knee and head room
- Ceiling vents
- USB-C charging ports
- Cup holders
The middle seat is surprisingly wide — but again, no head restraint. I wouldn’t recommend seating an adult there without one. A forward-facing car seat with a built-in headrest is a better way to utilize that position.
Third-row access still uses the fold-and-flip mechanism, which requires two motions. It feels slightly clunky and may be challenging for younger kids to manage independently.
Trunk
The Tahoe’s trunk behind the third row has never been massive — and that hasn’t changed.
If you’re using the third row full-time and need big cargo space, this is your reminder:
- The Suburban is your answer.
- The standard Tahoe prioritizes cabin space over cargo depth.
Behind the third row, space is comparable to a Chevy Traverse. It’s fine but not expansive.
However, once you fold the third row flat? Incredible. That’s where this vehicle shines. This is also why I often recommend a bench seat for families of three — you can safely fold part of the third row down and dramatically increase usable cargo space.
Safety
Safety: Big Improvements for 2025
This is one of my favorite upgrades.
Previously, many crash-prevention features were tied to higher trims or packages. Now, Chevy has prioritized safety by making many features standard, including:
- Automatic emergency braking
- Pedestrian detection
- Intersection collision mitigation
- Lane change alert
- Side bicycle alert
- Rear seat reminders
- Updated occupant left-behind detection
The new occupant detection system can identify micro-movements and escalate alerts if someone remains in the vehicle. This is a meaningful advancement in child safety technology.
