2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

For 2025, the two-row Jeep Grand Cherokee did not receive any major redesigns or feature overhauls since it's redesign in2022. Jeep mainly focused on making the lineup more affordable, lowering pricing across several V6-powered trims while continuing to offer the same family-friendly layout, technology, and capability introduced with the current generation. The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe are essentially the same vehicle from a size and interior standpoint. They share the same cabin dimensions, seating space, cargo space, and overall family functionality, so car seat setups and passenger room feel nearly identical between the two. The biggest difference is the powertrain, since the 4xe is the plug-in hybrid version of the Grand Cherokee.
- Excellent second-row car seat setup: there are lower anchors on both outboard seats and three top tether anchors across the back of the bench, so you have a lot of flexibility for multiple car seats.
- Wide bench seat: I could comfortably sit in the middle seat without sitting on buckles, which usually means easier three-across potential and more usable space for families.
- Great rear-facing space: the second row felt incredibly roomy with plenty of legroom, so rear-facing seats should fit comfortably without forcing the front seats too far forward.
- Second-row comfort features: heated and ventilated outboard seats, rear sunshades, side and rear vents, and tons of charging ports make this a really comfortable setup for kids and passengers.
- Family-friendly visibility: the digital rearview mirror is such a smart feature because passengers or tall car seats won’t block your view out the back.
- Huge panoramic sunroof: this makes the cabin feel so open and bright, especially for kids riding in the second row.
- Functional trunk space: the cargo area is surprisingly large for a hybrid, and there’s still a spare tire underneath which I always appreciate in a family SUV.
- Easy power liftgate button placement: Jeep added a close button right on the liftgate that’s easy to reach, which is genuinely helpful if you’re shorter or loading kids and groceries all day.
The Exterior
The Grand Cherokee 4xe Feels More Premium Than Ever
Jeep really elevated the exterior styling on this redesigned Grand Cherokee. It still has that rugged, recognizable Jeep look, but now it feels much more refined and upscale, especially in this Summit trim. Honestly, it gives me mini Wagoneer vibes in the best way.
The Styling Feels Bold Without Being Overdone
The front end has a really strong presence with the signature seven-slot grille, aggressive hood lines, and LED lighting. Even though this is still a practical family SUV, it feels sporty and polished instead of bulky or boring.
- Classic Jeep grille: the seven-slot grille keeps the Grand Cherokee recognizable right away
- Aggressive hood lines: adds a more premium, athletic feel to the front end
- LED lighting throughout: modern daytime running lights and headlights help the exterior feel updated
- Beautiful wheel options: the 21-inch wheels on this Summit trim completely change the look of the SUV
- Blue 4xe accents: subtle blue detailing and badging help distinguish the plug-in hybrid without making it feel flashy
It Still Feels Functional for Families
Even with the luxury feel, Jeep didn’t lose the practical side that families need. The SUV has a nice ride height without feeling intimidating, and the overall shape still feels easy to live with day to day.
- Large windows and panoramic sunroof: helps the cabin feel bright and open for passengers
- Power liftgate with easy-to-reach button: genuinely helpful when loading groceries or managing kids
- Roof rails included: great for families who need extra storage flexibility for trips and gear
- Big SUV presence without feeling oversized: still easy to maneuver while giving you tons of space inside
First Row
The first row of this Grand Cherokee 4xe honestly surprised me. Jeep really leaned into the luxury feel here, and in this Summit trim, it feels much more upscale than previous Grand Cherokees. There’s a ton of technology packed into this cabin, but it still feels approachable and easy to use.
The Technology Feels Modern Without Being Overwhelming
Right away, the screens stand out. You get a digital gauge cluster, large center touchscreen, heads-up display, and even a separate screen for the front passenger, which makes the whole cabin feel really high-end. I also love the digital rearview mirror because passengers or car seats won’t block your visibility out the back.
- Passenger display screen: gives the front passenger their own controls and entertainment
- Digital rearview mirror: especially helpful when the back seats are full of passengers or car seats
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: easy connectivity without cords everywhere
Jeep Kept The Controls Easy To Use
Even with all the tech, the layout still feels intuitive. The hybrid driving modes, off-road settings, and suspension controls are all easy to reach without digging through confusing menus.
- Simple drive mode controls: hybrid, electric, and e-save modes are easy to switch between
- Rotary shifter setup: clean design that frees up space in the center console
The Front Seats Feel Seriously Upscale
This Summit trim really feels luxurious with quilted leather, ambient lighting, a suede headliner, and massaging front seats. The center console also has great storage with multiple USB and USB-C ports, a wireless charger, and plenty of room for everyday family clutter.
Second Row
The second row in the Grand Cherokee 4xe is where this SUV really shines for families. It feels incredibly roomy, the bench is wide enough to make car seat installs easier, and Jeep included thoughtful features that make everyday life with kids much more comfortable.
Lower Anchors Are Located In Both Outboard Seats With Three Top Tether Anchors Across The Back
The Grand Cherokee 4xe has lower anchors in both outboard seats and three top tether anchors across the back of the second row bench. I also really liked how wide the bench felt because I could comfortably sit in the middle seat without sitting on the buckles, which usually tells me families will have more flexibility with car seat placement.
- Lower anchors in both outboard seats: gives families flexibility for rear-facing or forward-facing installs
- Three top tether anchors across the back: allows multiple forward-facing car seat positions
- Wide second-row bench: helps create more usable space between car seats
Rear-Facing Car Seats Should Fit Comfortably
The second row felt extremely spacious, especially for a two-row SUV. At six feet tall, I still had plenty of room sitting behind my own driving position, which makes me feel confident rear-facing seats would fit well without completely sacrificing front-row comfort.
Rear Passengers Get Excellent Comfort Features
Jeep packed this second row with features families will actually use. The ventilated and heated outboard seats, rear sunshades, side and rear vents, and multiple charging ports make this space feel much more premium than most family SUVs.
- Second-row heated and ventilated seats: included on both outboard seats in this Summit trim
- Sunshades built into the doors: a feature that can be surprisingly hard to find in a two-row SUV
- Side and rear vents: helps airflow reach kids sitting in car seats more effectively
- Two USBs, two USB-Cs, and a household outlet: plenty of charging options for passengers
Third Row
Trunk
The Grand Cherokee 4xe Has One of the Most Impressive Trunks in the Hybrid SUV Category
I was honestly shocked by how much cargo space Jeep kept in this plug-in hybrid. A lot of hybrid SUVs sacrifice practicality once the battery gets added, but this trunk still feels huge and very functional for family life.
The cargo area in the Grand Cherokee 4xe offers 37.7 cubic feet behind the second row, which is very competitive for a two-row midsize SUV.. The wide opening and square cargo shape also make the space feel especially usable for strollers, sports gear, groceries, or road trip packing.
The Cargo Area Still Feels Practical Despite The Hybrid Battery
One thing I immediately noticed is that the cargo floor still feels very usable and flat. Jeep also kept a spare tire underneath the trunk floor, which is something I always appreciate in a family vehicle.
- 37.7 cubic feet behind the second row: impressive space for a plug-in hybrid SUV
- Spare tire still included underneath: something many hybrids no longer offer
- Wide cargo opening: easier for loading larger strollers or bulky items
- Easy-to-reach liftgate button: especially helpful for shorter parents loading kids and groceri

The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award. It received Good ratings in the small overlap front test and updated side crash test. Front Outboard Seat Belt Pretensioners Are Included
The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee includes pretensioning devices in the front outboard seat belt system. These devices are designed to remove slack from the seat belt early in a collision and are intended to work for occupants of all sizes, including those in child restraints.
Standard Driver Assistance Features Are Included

Two Lower Anchor Sets Are Located In The Outboard Seats
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee has two dedicated sets of lower anchors in the second-row outboard seats, and I found them fairly easy to access between the seat cushions. That always makes installs feel a little less frustrating, especially if you are moving seats around often.
Three Top Tether Anchors Give You Full Coverage Across The Row
There are three top tether anchors behind the second row, so you can install a forward-facing seat in any seating position across the bench. I always like seeing full tether coverage because it gives families a lot more flexibility when configuring multiple seats.
The Second Row Feels Wide Enough To Work With Multiple Car Seats
The second row feels wide enough to comfortably work with multiple car seats. The bench itself is fairly flat, which helps when you are trying to mix rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats, and boosters across the row.
Lower Ride Height Makes Loading Kids Easier
One thing I really noticed with the Grand Cherokee is that it sits lower than some larger SUVs. That makes it easier for kids to climb in themselves and easier for parents loading rear-facing seats every day.
The Grand Cherokee Received A Marginal IIHS LATCH Ease Of Use Rating
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee received a Marginal rating from the IIHS for LATCH ease of use. Even though the anchors themselves are accessible, I would still take a little extra time double-checking installs and tether routing.
